Boating Safety Courses

Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons are dedicated to all aspects of boating safety, and as such, provide many useful courses to enhance your experiences on the water.

The Kincardine Power and Sail Squadron, a recognized member of CPS Canada, is no exception to the above fact.  Each year we provide the opportunity for anyone interested in boating to increase their knowledge base and thereby increase their level of safety and enjoyment of the sport.

Whether you are a traditional “land-lubber” extending your pontoons for the first time, or an “old salt” well experienced in the ways of the ocean, we make available course opportunities to increase your pleasures floating on our liquid world.

On a large body of water such as our Lake Huron, perhaps one of the  most important safety aides is the VHF Radio.  Each spring the  Kincardine squadron conducts a 3 evening seminar to provide the  needed skills to licence the boater for the use of such a radio.  Once earned, the Radio Operator’s Certificate (Maritime) is valid for the life of the successful candidate.  This course is open to CPS members and non-members alike.

For information as to when the next courses will be starting, use the INQUIRIES link at the left, or watch this site.  PCOC and VHF courses are normally presented in the spring, and Basic Boating is a Fall/Winter session.

If you are an experienced boater and are looking to improve specific skills, check out our Advanced Courses.
